The Antonio Bugarin Scholarship

The oldest of nine children, Antonio (Tony) Bugarin was the patriarch of the family, and son of a single mother. His greatest dream was to attend college and buy his mother a house one day. However, shortly after his high school graduation Tony learned that he was unable to attend college due to his immigration status. Tony then poured all of his energy into working at a factory and supporting his siblings until his life was cut short in a tragic motorcycle accident in 1988 at the young age of 24.

The Enrique Bugarin Scholarship

Enrique (Ricky) Bugarin assumed the role of patriarch after Tony passed away in 1988. He cared for his six living siblings working long days at the same factory his older brother, Tony had once worked. Ricky motivated his siblings to graduate high school and go to college. He wanted to make sure Tony’s legacy would live on in his siblings. As Ricky started a family of his own, he also helped support his youngest sister, Ivette House through college. Ricky was a proud brother. Unfortunately, in 2020, Ricky passed away due to multiple medical complications at the age of 52.
